Advice When Buying Used Cosmetic Laser Equipment

    Used Cosmetic Equipment Buying Advice

The cosmetic equipment industry includes many different types of aesthetic laser devices. There are several variations between those devices, but one thing that doesn’t tend to vary much is the high cost of purchasing one. In fact, it’s not uncommon for business owners to pay $100,000 or more for a single medical laser machine. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to save up that much money in order to get one for your business. Instead, you could choose to purchase used cosmetic equipment.

    Older Models Aren’t Necessarily Bad

Purchasing used cosmetic equipment is a great way to save money. Older, used aesthetic lasers tend to have much lower price tags than brand new laser machines. In some cases, you may even be able to save up to 75% or so by purchasing a used cosmetic laser machine.

The question, then, is why do so many business owners try to avoid purchasing used cosmetic equipment. The top reason is that they are afraid that older models won’t perform as well as the latest medical laser equipment. If you are worried about that, don’t be. Machines made from 2005 to now are generally fairly similar. So, even if you get a model that is a few years old, it should still perform the procedures that you want to offer to your customers.

    Consider Your Potential Profits

Even if you have the money to buy a new cosmetic laser, purchasing used cosmetic laser equipment instead may be a better idea. Why? Well, it’s a simple matter of how soon you will see a return on investment (ROI). It takes a lot longer for a brand new medical laser to pay for itself. A used cosmetic laser could potentially be paid off and start earning you actual profits much faster.

That being said, used cosmetic equipment is older than brand new models. So, it may be more likely to require repairs or have to be replaced completely eventually. Even so, most used laser devices pay for themselves before they become obsolete. But you do need to factor in potential repair costs when you are calculating your ROI.

Of course, your ROI on brand new cosmetic laser equipment is going to be non-existent at first. It will take a while to pay off your purchase. However, your ROI on either used or new medical lasers isn’t just about money. It also has to do with how many new customers you can gain through word of mouth when your regular customers start telling their friends about the new services you are offering.

What Used Cosmetic Equipment You Should Purchase

When you think that you are finally ready to purchase used cosmetic equipment, you will need to pick a particular laser device. Focus on devices that are designed to perform tasks your target audience can appreciate. For example, if your customers are often looking for wrinkle treatments, get a laser that treats wrinkles. If, on the other hand, they want you to offer hair removal treatments, you should purchase a laser designed to perform those treatments.
