Should I Buy Used Aesthetic Lasers?

Anyone in the field of cosmetics knows that aesthetic laser equipment can be essential parts of spa businesses and physician’s practices. There’s no disputing that. Yet, not every spa or cosmetics business has one. The main reason for that is the fact that they can cost so much money. That is, of course, if you choose to buy a brand new device, but what about buying a used one? There are actually a lot of advantages to buying used laser devices instead of new ones. Let’s look at a few of them.

You Can Cut Your Costs Down

The obvious advantage of buying a used laser device is that you can cut your costs down. In fact, you can cut them by as much as half. That’s a significant amount of savings when you consider that new devices can have price tags of $100,000 or more. So, if your budget is limited, used machines are definitely more likely to be in your price range.

You Will Start to Make a Profit Sooner

When you purchase a used machine at a discount, the second advantage is that you will make your money back quickly by providing laser treatments with that machine. It would take longer to pay off a brand new device. With a used one, you can start to see your profits rise much faster, setting your mind at ease.

Used Devices Come from Third Party Sources

Of course, you aren’t likely to get a used device from a manufacturer. They usually come from a third party online reseller. That might not seem like an advantage, but it can be. You see, when you buy a new device from the manufacturer you will almost certainly hear biased information about the model you are considering purchasing. Third party resellers, on the other hand, often offer a wide variety of models from different manufacturers, allowing you to explore multiple options.

Repair Technicians May be Readily Available

Another advantage to buying used lasers is that you might find it easier to locate a repair technician in your area. If you were to buy a brand new device, you could have repairs done by the manufacturer. When you purchase a used device, that isn’t always an option, and it may be just as well. After all, manufactures tend to require annual service contracts.

Typically, it’s more difficult to find repair technicians for brand new laser devices. That’s because third party companies aren’t familiar with those particular models and designs yet. Whereas a model that is two or three years old is more familiar to them.

Used Models Have Proven Track Records

One last thing to consider is that used lasers have proven track records. You can look up the manufacturers and model numbers prior to making a purchase and read unbiased reviews about the device before you make a final decision. In general, models that were made in the last few years are a lot like this year’s models, but this year’s models don’t always have those reviews available yet.
